Commitment to our community: Volunteering with The Childhood Trust charity

At Boreal, we're known for our expertise in the real estate industry. Over the past year, we’ve taken on a different kind of property challenge – one that’s required us to get our hands and knees and get dirty painting, sanding, and building furniture.

In March and September 2023, all 23 of our employees took a break from their typical day-to-day responsibilities to support The Childhood Trust's "Decorate a Child's Life" initiative. This program is dedicated to improving the living conditions and environments of disadvantaged children and young people in London. The initiative focuses on transforming various spaces, including children's bedrooms, youth clubs, and community centres, into safe and welcoming environments where children can thrive.

In March, we redecorated two bedrooms – one for a 10-year-old boy and another for a 3-year-old girl – in an estate in South London. In the space of 8 hours, we transformed the rooms from bare and run-down to brand-new and superhero and princess-themed. In September, we helped a second family who had recently moved into new accommodation in West London. We transformed two more tired, empty bedrooms into a cosy pastel-themed one for a 13-year-old girl, and a Captain-America themed one for a 6-year-old boy.

When Boreal started in 2022, as a team we agreed on the importance of giving back to the communities in which we operate. When choosing a charity to partner with, our decision was influenced by The Childhood Trust’s local presence and work in London, where Boreal HQ is based, and the tangible positive impact we could have. While the freshly painted walls and new furniture gave us a sense of accomplishment, the most rewarding impact was the smiles on the faces of the family members when they saw the results of our efforts.
